I am professor in Design Theory of Inteligent Systems at the department of Industrial Design at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).
Moreover, I'm leader of the theme Smart Environment of the strategic area Health@TU/e.
My activities concentrate on developing a holistic design framework to answer the overall question "How to design for personal, social and societal transformation through aesthetic
interaction with open, disruptive innovative systems?" I am answering this question through designing and studying an educational system including mechanisms for collaboration,
design processes, and design tools and techniques. Moreover, I have run several 'research through design for design' projects and educational activities that explore the possibilities
of personal, social and societal transformation as well as the aesthetics of interaction.
I am a member of the steering committee of TEI and a member of a variety of international program committees and national Think Tanks since 2001. I have given various keynote speeches as well as dozens
of invited lectures and workshops at international universities and for industry. I worked as a visiting researcher at Media Lab Europe in Dublin for three months. Next to my main job, I am
co-owner of ID-dock, a design, research and advice centre for Creative Support and Web & Graphics.
